What Is And Isn’t In Your E-Liquid?

Vaping has become a popular trend among many age groups across the world. Apart from utilizing it as a safe substitute for smoking, several users are using vape pens to enjoy vibrant flavors and a spectrum of herbs, including cannabis.

Vaping eliminates many carcinogenic properties of smoking and gives the benefits of the herb or essence used to its fullest. While it is possible to vape herbs directly, vape juices or e-liquids are among the most common methods for vaping.

These e juices bring the main component, for example, CBD oil, with a blend of other chemicals that make it appropriate for the device. So, what does your vape juice or e-liquid constitute? Let us dig deep to find out.

What is in your Vape Juice?

The Safe Components

1.Flavoring Agents
Flavors are the real fun part of your e-liquids. If you would like your vapor to reflect on extraordinary flavors, choosing good ones with high-quality flavoring agents, such as e juices, is a good idea.

You can access the quality of the flavoring by understanding the type of ingredients used to create these flavors. Natural and organic extracts and oils can be ideal for getting authentic experience while you vape. You can also opt for specific artificial flavoring agents that also use natural extracts with some changes, such as ethyl maltol, malic acid.

Check if the label indicates food-grade ingredients. These are safe to use and approved by food quality assessment organizations worldwide for consumer use and are usually of good quality. You can check out the high-quality Dabbing Accessories to upgrade your vape kit.

2.Propylene Glycol
Among the two major constituents of your vape juice, propylene glycol or PG is crucial for vaporization. The purpose of the chemical is to act as a solvent for the extracts, for example, CBD oil, to become compatible with your vaping device. Propylene glycol is one of the most common solutions used in several other everyday products, such as shampoo, sunscreen, preservatives, food flavoring, making it a safe ingredient to have in your vape juice.

This colorless and flavorless alcohol is responsible for creating a strong hit type of feeling when you inhale. The alcohol makes it easy for the wick to absorb the liquid that makes even lower output devices efficient with improved taste and flavor. The presence of alcohol in the liquid can have a dehydrating effect on the user, that leaves you parched after vaping. The right ratio of PG in your e-liquid can improve flavor sensitivity and give you an incredible experience.

3.Vegetable Glycerine
Vegetable Glycerine or VG is another primary component of an e-liquid. The ratio between PG and VG determines the type of vaping experience you will have. Vegetable glycerine is also a common ingredient in many pharmaceutical products and foods, such as sweeteners, tobacco, cosmetics as a solvent and lubricant. One of the many properties of the component that makes it useful to these applications is its ability to retain moisture. People often look for smoke shop supplies to order in bulk but they have to make sure that it would be a trusted source.

It is also a colorless, odorless ingredient that is safe to inhale and has a mildly sweet flavor. Most e-liquids you purchase contain at least 50% vegetable glycerine that gives the sticky texture of the liquid.

It helps to improve the vapor efficiency of your device and makes it gentle and easy on the user. Striking the right balance between PG and VG in your e-liquids gives improved experience and extraordinary flavors to relish.

Not So Common Components

1.Nicotine
Nicotine is the chemical from cigarettes used in some e-liquids for users who can switch to vaping from smoking. It is an ingredient from tobacco that gives a relaxing feeling. Nicotine is not a harmful part of smoking tobacco. Instead, it is the carcinogenic additives that form while smoking, such as tar, detrimental to health.

E-liquids deliver significantly less concentration of nicotine as compared to smoking, making it a safer alternative. There are also nicotine salt e-liquids where the concentration is higher compared to PG 50/50 liquids or VG liquids. These e-liquids take a lot less vapor to give the same effects as smoking.

2.Nitrosamines
Trace levels of tobacco-specific nitrosamines are also standard in e-liquids. While these are not purposely added, the use of pharmaceutical-grade nicotine causes trace levels of the chemical to occur in the vape juice.

Unsafe Components

1.Diketones
The creamy and soft texture that comes in e-liquids is due to the presence of diketones, such as diacetyl. They are added to your vape juice to make it buttery and smooth to vape. Three major diketones are occurring in e-liquids – diacetyl, acetyl propionyl, and acetoin.

A standard recommendation about diacetyl is that it is best to avoid e-liquids that contain this chemical. Although the ingredient is mandatory in many food products, it does not indicate the same safety in inhaling products.

Some studies indicate that inhaling the chemical could increase the risk of developing lung problems, such as chronic bronchiolitis. Therefore, look through the product label to know if diacetyl is present. There are acetyl propionyl and acetoin also in the list of diketones added to e-liquids. Although the effects of vaping these ingredients may not be as severe as in the case of diacetyl, there is still a significant amount of risk involved in using them.

The two chemicals could catalyze the effects of diacetyl and increase the risk of severe lung problems in the long run. It could make your e-liquid harmful for inhalation. Therefore, it is best to avoid these ingredients while choosing your product.

2.Ethylene Glycol
Ethylene Glycol is an antifreeze that can be hazardous if present in your e-liquid. Although PG is also an antifreeze, the ingredient is food grade and is safe to use, unlike ethylene glycol. It could have toxic effects and is hence not a safe component in your e-liquid.
