Vaporesso Xros 3 Mini v. Oxva Xlim Pro

The Vaporesso Xros 3 Mini is an impressive little vape, and one I frequently recommend to new vapers - both on the blog and when people ask me for personal advice on which device to use.

However, the Oxva Xlim Pro has also won fans at our head office and in our shops, with some preferring it to Xros vape devices.

As both are proving to be some of the most popular devices we sell, this week we’re putting the  Xlim Pro and Xros 3 Mini pod kits head to head on a range of different factors so you can choose the right one for you.

At a glance

Battery life
Both devices weigh in with a 1000mAh battery capacity, which appears to have them on an equal footing. Both will comfortably last the average user at least a day, although the Vaporesso Xros 3 Mini does pack that battery capacity into a smaller, lighter device.

However, it’s worth remembering that battery life is not just about its capacity. Our testing team provided detailed feedback on the Oxva Xlim Pro, and reported that while the battery life is fine, it doesn’t last as long as the Xros 3 Mini. (It does, however, charge quickly).

Ease of use
The Xros 3 Mini is superbly easy to fill - you just remove the mouthpiece from the pod to reveal the filling port. In contrast, the Xlim Pro uses a bung on the side of the pod. You don’t need to remove the pod to fill it, and while for a bung I found it easy to remove and place our initial testers did report finding it fiddly.

One slight caveat, though; the top cap on the Vaporesso Xros pod can become easily detached from the pod after you have been using it for a while - disappearing into the recess of your pocket.

Both devices allow you to clearly see the amount of e-liquid in your pod - a basic but often overlooked feature which is important to ensure your coil remains saturated with e-liquid.

Beyond that, the cost of increased functionality means the Xros 3 Mini wins out here. The Xlim Pro has a single button which is used for powering on or off, adjusting the wattage or RGB lights, resetting the puff count and locking the device.

I’m not a fan of single-button controls, especially for controlling wattage. You have to remember the number of presses required for each function, and potentially cycle through the entire wattage to get to the desired wattage output.

In contrast, the buttonless Vaporesso Xros 3 Mini is as simple as you get - simply inhale, and the device does the rest for you.

Functionality
The corollary of simplicity is a lack of functionality. The Xros 3 Mini works great, but you can’t adjust the wattage or the airflow. (Do note the actual wattage can vary, as the Xros will automatically adjust output to match the coil being used.)

That’s great for a new user, but not as good if you are a more experienced user who prefers more control over your vape.

In contrast, the Oxva Xlim Pro has adjustable airflow - easily controlled by the adjuster on the side. The one-button control on the side may take a little bit of learning, but it allows you to adjust the wattage, and you can also change the lighting display on the screen and reset the puff counter.

Draw & flavour
While both devices deliver good flavour, using the same e-liquid (Halo Menthol Blast) I was surprised to find the Oxva Xlim Pro delivered a richer, more nuanced flavour than the Xros 3 Mini.

The Xros 3 Mini delivers a perfectly acceptable Mouth-to-Lung draw off the bat. However, as you might imagine the Oxva Xlim Pro has the advantage here with its adjustable airflow. By opening up the airflow to around 70%, I was able to get my perfect draw.

Style & comfort
While I like the raised-square front of the Xros 3 Mini, the rest of the device does look a little basic. The Oxva Xlim is heavier, but the zinc alloy frame also feels more solid.

The sides are slightly more rounded than the Xros 3 Mini, making it more comfortable to hold, and the coloured metal surface reflects different lights.

Price point
While prices in the vape world change frequently, the Oxva Xlim Pro is consistently more expensive than the Vaporesso Xros 3 Mini. At the time of writing, there’s a seven pound difference between the two. I think that’s justified, given the increased functionality of the Oxva Xlim Pro, but if price is important to you, I’d suggest choosing the Xros 3 Mini.

Rounding up
If you’re a new vaper looking for a reliable device which is easy to use and delivers a great vape, I’d suggest choosing the Vaporesso Xros 3 Mini. It’s very good value, and it’s also stood the test of time - having sold thousands, we’ve seen consistently low return rates with it.

However, if you have a little bit of experience, and don’t mind fiddly one-button controls and filling bungs, you might be better off with the Xlim Pro. The improved flavour, adjustable wattage and airflow give it the edge for vapers who like that bit of extra control. In fact, having compared the two side-by-side, I might switch to the Xlim Pro for my regular vape device.

If you’re a dedicated Xros fan, though, the upcoming Xros Pro might be worth checking out. Coming with adjustable airflow, and variable wattage, it promises both more functionality to compete with the Xlim Pro and a greater battery capacity.
