Vaporesso Target PM80 Review – Sub Ohm Pod Kit

The Vaporesso Target PM80 is a new addition to a relatively new style of Pod Mods. I have to say, it surpassed all expectations.
Vaporesso was created in 2015 by parent company Smoore which was founded in 2006, making their company history one of the longest in vaping (14 years of industry experience).

What Can We Expect From the Vaporesso Target PM80?

There is a distinct difference between “Pods Kits” and “Pod Mods”, the former are likely to be a mouth to lung low power device such as the Vaporesso Renova Zero or for instance OneVape Lambo 2.
On the other hand “Pod Mods” like Voopoo Vinci X or Smok RPM 80 which tend to be much more powerful and generally cater to those looking for a direct to lung sub ohm experience.

With a plethora of good and bad pod kits on the market, the Vaporesso Target PM80 is very firmly in the former category of good kits. It is a very attractive, comfortable and well built kit.

With up to 80 watts of power, it has a nice bright TFT colour screen, and the mod has a large internal battery so for most users power won’t be a problem.
Vaporesso have released this kit in several attractive colour designs.

Design and Build Quality

The Kit comes in a cardboard box, which will match the colour of your device.
As you can see I was sent the green design for this review, the mod is well presented and includes standard kit contents.

Target PM80 Pod Mod Kit

Fully assembled, the pod mod comes in at 102mm tall by 33.4mm in width.
When all put together for use the device is a great pocket mod, it’s a sturdy and compact kit.
The body of the device is made of aluminum alloy with a bright 0.96 Inch colour TFT screen, included with the kit are 2 pod cartridges either 4ml or 2ml depending on your country.
Both the battery and the pod/s have excellent quality, the kit design has been well done with a great feel in the hand.

Battery

With the 2000mAh internal battery, there’s a maximum wattage of 80w in .5 increments

And a lower end wattage of 5w.

The chipset included with this device is the Axon, which promises a fast fire at 00.01s.
Looking into the top of the device or pod bay you will see 2 small gold plated spring loaded contact points and 2 strong magnets.

To each side of the pod bay you will note 3 airflow holes.

While the back of the device has a padded colourful sticker.

Also you will note the back of the mod is slightly higher than the front, this shape with the pod in place enables you too easily to see your remaining liquid.

One side of the body you will see the Vaporesso branding and mod name.

The other side at the bottom houses a 2A micro USB charge port.

The bottom of the device has 10 battery vent holes – you’ll also see that the usual safety marks.

It’s a pretty basic front – simple but smart.

There’s a large very clicky fire button.

And 2 up/down buttons made of metal.

The inclusion of the 0.96 inch TFT colour screen for me is this devices best feature. It’s clean bright and sharp, the screen includes all the usual information you might expect to find on a standard mod.
The operation is straightforward with no learning curve needed to use the device.

Vaporesso Target PM80 Pod

2 plastic bottom fill pod/cartridges are included with the kit. One of which is pre-installed into the device without a coil installed!

Coils supplied with the kit are plug and play:
·Vaporesso GTX 0.2 Ohm Mesh Coil (45 to 60w)
·Vaporesso GTX 0.3 Ohm Mesh Coil (32 to 45w)

The plastic pods are made of PETG with clear tanks and black tops with a non removable almost 510 like mouth piece.

On the base of the pod you will see a large hole for your PnP coil along with 2 magnets that match up to those in the body of the device. The magnets are incredibly strong and hold the pod in to the bay with no movement.

The fill port is located on the bottom of the pod,and it has a well fitting silicone plug which has an arrow moulded into it pointing away from the port – this might confuse some!
The mouth piece while being plastic, is very comfortable in the mouth.
Because of how the pod is constructed the airflow is extremely good, the pod sits on the magnets as well as a plastic tube like effect that protrudes from the pod base. The coil takes the airflow directly, so it’s important you align the coils so the coil airflow sits facing the sides of the pod.
Sadly the airflow for this device isn’t adjustable.

Both pods are very sturdily constructed, with a good manufacture and design quality.

How Does Vaporesso Target PM80 Pod Mod Perform?

For this example I have fill the Pod up with Coastal Clouds Pink Lemonade, I will also be using  the GTX 0.2 Ohm Mesh Coil.

Vaporesso Target Basic Quick Start Guide

When changing out your coil I recommend emptying the pod/tank first!
·  Pre wick your chosen coil by dropping a few drops of e-liquid onto the cotton and insert the coil into the base of the Pod.

With the pod upside down open the fill port and fill with your liquid, firmly re seat the plug after filling.

·Place the pod into the Target PM80 device.

Leave the device alone for around 2 or 3 minutes to allow the coil to soak up more liquid.

Target PM80 Battery Settings

Vaporesso Target Flavour and Vapour Production

40 to 65w

I was somewhat surprised by the amount of vapour I received with the PM80 at 40w it was immense with an extremely good flavour!
Upping the wattage to first 50 then to 65w, the vapour production grew so much I had to open a window.

The flavour at 50w was still very good however when I reached 65w it sort of dulled a little but not too much.
My go to with this device and this coil is between 45/55w depending on my mood, the resulting vapour at 65w it was nice and warm.

Vaporesso Target Airflow

This is most defiantly a direct to lung device.
This is a little bone of contention for me given I like a little restriction to my draw – this pod is very airy!
I did a couple of experiments, firstly I used a little piece of tape to cover the coil airflow this did work well and created some restriction.

Next I used another bit of tape and covered an airflow hole from inside each side of the pod bay, it not as good as the coil method but it still worked.

Vaporesso Target Battery Life

The 2000mah battery lasts me about 2.5 hours at 50w for me this is about standard as I tend to chain vape a lot lol.

I would like to have seen a USB C charge connection rather than the Micro USB but as it is a 2amp port it is fairly fast in charging.

The Axon chipset is very fast and gives you basically an instant fire.
One thing that does get on my nerves slightly is the intelligent power recommendation for the coil you have installed – if you pull the pod out you have to re adjust your watts!

Pros
·Excellent design and quality
·Fast Axon chipset
·Good airflow
·Very good flavour
·Excellent vapour production
·Easy to understand menu system
·Reasonable retail price

Cons
I have no concerns with this kit!

Final Review Verdict

Vaporesso have got a winner on their hands here!
And I predict this style of Pod Mod will be this year’s must have type of device.
Overall with the PM80 I have enjoyed my time testing and using this kit, and will carry on using it, as it’s a good fit for me.
