UWELL CALIBURN G 18W POD SYSTEM REVIEW
QUALITY
The Uwell CALIBURN G 18W Pod System is the latest and greatest CALIBURN device released in 2020. This rendition incorporates some things you loved about the previous version and injects some new ideas into the mix. The CALIBURN G boasts a larger battery, faster charging, and some new airflow options. But can it really hold a light to the insanely popular original or is it just another flash in the pan pod device? Keep reading to find out.
Uwell is a popular vape manufacturer that’s been around since 2015. They’re best known for developing innovative technology and products. This includes its best selling range of Valyrian and Crown sub-ohm tanks. They also had huge success with the Nunchaku 80W vape pen. It was the must-own product of 2018. Uwell has recently submitted its product for a PMTA. This is vital to ensure they can continue to sell their products legally in the USA.
POD
The Uwell CALIBURN G 18W Pod is a tiny device that measures 108.3mm’s by 22.5mm’s by 12.6mm’s. It’s also extremely lightweight, coming in at just 60 grams. The main chassis is made from zinc-alloy but it feels like plastic. It contains an internal 690mAh rechargeable battery that’s USB-C ready. This is convenient because USB-C is much faster than MicroUSB and the charging cable can be inserted in any way.
The Uwell CALIBURN G Pod can only output 18 watts of power. I think that’s more than enough for MTL, but Uwell also advertises this device for DTL use. A single airflow hole is positioned on one side of your device and one side of your cartridge. As a result, you can easily change how much air comes through. The MTL draw was tight and very good! On the other hand, the DTL draw was kind of wet.
The Uwell CALIBURN G 18W Pod boasts a smart dual firing system. You can choose to press a nice little embossed button or just inhale to fire. The cartridge on top can hold 2ml of eliquid. I found myself having to fill this up quite regularly when using the device on a daily basis. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the fill method. It requires you to push off the top cap to reveal the port. Those little clips are bound to snap off eventually.
The Uwell CALIBURN G 18W Pod now includes press-fit coils; unlike the original. This reduces wastage and I’m very happy Uwell is moving in this direction. The 0.8ohm UN2 meshed H coil performed superbly. The flavor I got from it was saturated and so enjoyable. It also boasts a super long lifespan. I’ve been rocking the same coil for a fortnight, without much flavor loss.
PACKAGING
The Uwell CALIBURN G 18W Pod comes in a variety of fun colors that appeal to both genders. This includes rosy brown, green, grey, red, black, and also blue. Vaping is a male-dominated hobby, so I appreciate Uwell adding some colors that may appeal to females. Even though they’ve called it ‘rosy brown’, instead of the obvious ‘rose gold’. The packaging design is modern and aesthetically pleasing. Inside you’ll find your Uwell Caliburn G pod, cartridge, 2 x coils, USB-C charging cable, and also a user manual.
