TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS FOR LOW VAPOR PRODUCTION

Since the inception of the vaping revolution, the industry has grown tremendously, especially over the past few years. As devices are rapidly progressing, their performance is precipitously improving as well. In fact, even e-liquid has evolved to provide for an enhanced overall vaping experience. The transformation in design has been astounding, prompting many enthusiasts to switch from big mods to small pods. Yet despite the smaller form factor, performance has remained firmly intact. As devices continue to advance and adopt new technologies that afford superior performance, it raises a bewildering question—why isn’t your vaporizer producing enough vapor?

In this article, we will explore a multitude of troubleshooting tips for those that have vaporizers that don’t seem to produce adequate vapor. Most individuals are quick to blame the manufacturer for a device that doesn’t perform as advertised. However, before returning the item and writing it off as defective, we have a few steps you can take that will have you blowing thick clouds in no time!

STEP 1: MAKE SURE YOUR DEVICE IS FULLY CHARGED
As evident as this may seem, many individuals do not quite appreciate the impact that a depleted battery will have on the performance and resulting vapor your device is able to manufacture. This is especially true with respect to devices that utilize Voltage-Based Output systems. These configurations operate is such a fashion whereby the device’s performance is directly correlated to the current state of the battery. That is, as the battery drains, the power and corresponding performance diminishes along with it. The end result is dramatically reduced vapor production.

Solution: Make sure your device is fully charged to enjoy its maximum                performance.

STEP 2: KNOW YOUR DEVICE’S CAPABILITIES
Knowing your device’s capabilities and functionality is a critical step to increasing vapor production. Some advanced vaporizers offer variable voltage and/or variable wattage control, while others merely rely on a combination of the coil and the current state of the battery for its performance. If your device is regulated and has either variable voltage or adjustable wattage control, research the wattage/voltage range of the coil you are using to ensure that you are supplying enough power to properly vaporize the e-juice.

Insufficient power will significantly limit the amount of vapor that will be produced during use. If the device relies on the current state of the battery and the coil, simply switching to a coil with lower resistance and a fully charged battery can increase vapor production and eliminate the performance problem you are experiencing.

Solution: Make sure that the atomizer coil you are using is getting                      sufficient  power to amply vaporize the e-liquid.

STEP 3: AIRFLOW IS KEY TO DENSE VAPOR PRODUCTION
With many ways to increase vapor production, proper airflow is among the most important. Some tanks feature adjustable airflow control functionality, while others maintain fixed air intake systems. Vape tanks that offer variable airflow capability are beneficial, as they enable you to fine-tune the airiness of your draw, and therefore the volume of vapor that is produced with each hit. To increase vapor production, simply open the intake valve to allow for more air to enter during use. Tanks that do not offer this functionality can still be tweaked to help maximize vapor production. For example, using a wide-bore drip tip may help open the airway and allow for denser vapor clouds.

Solution: Open your tank’s air intake and/or utilize a wide-bore drip tip.

STEP 4: USE E-JUICES WITH HIGHER VEGETABLE GLYCERIN (VG)
As you may already know, e-juice consists of four primary ingredients: Propylene Glycol (PG), Vegetable Glycerin (VG), flavoring, and (with the exception of 0mg e-juices) nicotine. While PG is used to help promote a more pronounced throat hit and increased flavor intensity, VG is utilized to facilitate thicker and denser vapor. While searching for a new e-liquid to purchase, take note of the VG/PG ratio and select blends that favor VG in order to increase vapor production. It is important to note, however, that some basic tanks that operate with smaller atomizer coils may not be capable of adequately vaporizing e-juices with high levels of VG, as it is substantially thicker than PG-dominant juices, and may clog the atomizer coil.

Solution: Purchase e-juices with higher levels of vegetable glycerin (VG).

STEP 5: MOUTH-TO-LUNG (MTL) VS DIRECT-TO-LUNG (DTL) HITS
In using an electronic cigarette or vaporizer, there are essentially two hit styles that a vaper engages: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung. A mouth-to-lung hit is one where the individual first pulls the vapor into their mouth, then inhales it into their lungs. This style is similar to that of smoking a combustible cigarette. A direct-to-lung hit, on the other hand, involves inhaling the vapor straight into the lungs, bypassing the mouth altogether.

The type of hit employed is directly correlated to the volume of vapor that is ultimately manufactured. Since a MTL vaper can only produce the amount of vapor that they can hold inside their mouth, the density of the cloud will be markedly less than a DTL vaper who suctions massive amounts of vapor straight into their lungs.

It is critical to note, however, that the style of hit taken must be done in conjunction with the type of tank being used as well. That is, some tanks are designed for DTL vaping, while others are intended for MTL vaping. Using a DTL vaping style on a MTL tank may result in brunt hits, flooding, and gurgling of the atomizer coils. Conversely, taking MTL hits on a tank engineered for DTL vaping may also prove problematic as well.

Solution: Utilize a Direct-to-Lung vaping style with a DTL tank.
