Smok Nord vs Nord 2 - Which is better?

Well ladies and gents the time has come to discuss the newest product to be released by Smoktech and this one is going to be big! There have been some interesting products released by Smok recently from the Smok Fetch, RPM40 and RP80 and RPM80 Pro Vape Pod Kits, but with a lot of companies releasing pod kits it appears that Smok have attempted to trump them all with their brand new Smok Nord 2!

The Nord 2 has been manufactured to take the reign’s from its predecessor the Smok Nord Kit and there have been some serious upgrades that Smok have incorporated into their newer kits! So I think it about time we had a little look at these bad boys side by side and see if we can decide which comes out on top!

As I mentioned a few seconds ago the Nord 2 has been upgraded, “but how?” I hear you cry. There are a lot of improvements that Smok have made including, increasing the power from 15W to 40W as well as introducing adjustable wattage into a compact device that is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand. This is a major breakthrough in the world of small vape pod kits and I am sure we will see a lot of other vaping companies following suit.

The original Smok Nord Kit had a 1100mAh built-in battery which at the time was very large for a pod kit device, making it a powerful one, to say the least. The Nord Kit included 2 different coils, one sub ohm 0.6 Ohm mesh coil and a regular 1.4 ohm MTL coils for an MTL style of vaping which allowed for either Sub Ohm vaping or mouth to lung (MTL) vaping. However, the Nord 2 is the upgraded version of the Nord Pod System and has a single button-triggered and compact ergonomic design! I’ve found it very comfortable to grip and very easy to use.

Another fantastic feature of the Nord 2 is the embedded advanced chipset which is brilliant if you’re looking for great flavour and superb vapour production. The Nord 2 also has a built-in battery but it is larger in capacity with 1500mAh and gives the device a maximum adjustable output of up to 40W. The power range of the Nord can be adjusted between 1 to 40 Watts and can be simply adjusted by pressing the power button 3 times.

The Nord 2 also has been equipped with a maximum 1.2A quick charging system and will recharge your vape pod device in a short matter of time. The charging interface is displayed on the screen located at the side of the mod and shows the percentage of battery power and estimated charge time. This allows you to see exactly how quickly the device will take to charge and is a really handy feature when on the go!

The screen that the Smok Nord 2 adopts is a 0.69 inch OLED display that has been specially designed to show you concise vaping data, including battery life, wattage and coil resistance.

There are two new Pods included with the Nord 2, the RPM Pod and Nord Pod, and they can be easily distinguished by the corresponding text " RPM " and " NORD " on the rubber plug that is used to seal the pod once filled up with your favourite e-liquid of your choice.

The great thing about the RPM Pod is that they are compatible with all RPM Coils and come pre-installed with 0.4ohm Mesh Coil for some of the best flavour from a pod kit device.

The second Nord Pod is compatible with all Smok Nord Coils and comes pre-installed with 0.8ohm Nord DC MTL Coil. This pod, with the 0.8 Ohm coil installed  will bring you a better MTL experience.

Currently, there are 9 brand new and exciting colour options of the Smok Nord 2 Pod Kit which all look great. My personal preference would have to be the Red option. Although it is called red, it actually has a Carbon Fibre styled design which is part red and part black. The selection of colours is quite varied (not as varied just yet when compared to the original Nord Kit) and I am sure that Smok will be releasing additional colours in time.

So which would I personally use as my own vape kit?

I think that when a company brings out a newer version of the same kit it is always going to be a simple choice as to which I would go for. There are so many little upgrades that Smok have done on the Nord 2 compared to the original Nord that I would have to go for the new Nord 2 (most likely in the red finish as said before). The increase in battery size and the use of the RPM Pod gives it the edge and not forgetting it now has adjustable wattage too! The flavours achieved with the SMok Nord coils is truly something that I haven't ever experienced before with a pod kit device. The e-liquid flavours come through amazingly and the nicotine delivery is smooth on the exhale!!!
