Proper Vaping Technique

If you are wondering how to vape properly, you aren’t alone.

A surprising number of people have trouble with their vapes simply because they don’t know how to inhale or use their specific device. With that in mind, let’s take a look at how to vape the right way so that you can enjoy the most satisfying experience possible.

It’s a good idea for new vapers to keep things simple as they’re starting out. Your best bet is an easy-to-use device, such as an e-cigarette or pod system. Bonus points if it’s disposable – that means zero maintenance. You won’t get massive clouds with these devices, but they do make a great stepping stone to teach you what you need to know to move on to a more powerful vape mod.

Basic starter kits
These devices may not boast all the features of larger devices, but they make vapour in the same way and have the added bonus of generally being more affordable. These kits focus on ease of use and portability, making them ideal for new vapers and perfect for introducing the proper way to vape.

You can choose from:
·Pod vapes
·AIOs (all-in-one devices)
·Disposable e-cigs

Most vape kits come with some type of instructions to give you a sense of how your device works and how to operate it.

Choosing your e-liquid
One of the more important (and most fun) parts of vaping is selecting your e-juice. However, this process involves much more than simply picking out flavours that you like. You’ll also need to decide how much nicotine you want, which can be tricky, largely because it’s very hard to know how much nicotine you’re actually getting when you smoke traditional cigarettes. In general, heavier smokers will want more nicotine than lighter or more casual smokers. Of course, if you just want to try vaping as a hobby and prefer no nicotine, you can get zero-nicotine vape juice as well. If you aren’t sure, it may be a good idea to start with a middle-of-the-road option and make adjustments from there.

How to inhale a vape
The way you inhale can make or break your entire vaping experience. Inhaling “wrong” can cause a harsh throat hit, coughing, and even a too-strong rush of nicotine. Unfortunately, new vapers can run into this problem and be deterred from vaping at all. There are two basic styles of inhalation: mouth-to-lung and direct-to-lung. Let’s break these two types down.

·Mouth-to-lung. MTL vapes feature a restrictive draw designed to simulate the sensation of smoking a real cigarette. They tend to produce less vapour, making them suitable for stealthy vaping. To use these devices, you should draw the vapour into your mouth slowly for a few seconds. Hold it in your mouth for a second or two before taking in a small breath and using it to pull the vapour into your lungs. Then, exhale.

·Direct-to-lung. DTL inhaling tends to work best with low-resistance coils and lots of airflow. Hitting a DTL vape feels like sucking air through a thick straw and will create lots of vapour. When you hit your DTL device, pull the vapour quickly and directly into your lungs, just like taking a deep breath. Immediately exhale the vapour to enjoy a big, thick cloud.

If you aren’t sure how to choose the best style of inhalation for you, let your nicotine strength be your guide. In general, higher-nicotine e-liquids work best with MTL, while lower-nicotine liquids are better for DTL. That middle-of-the-road juice you picked out first? It should work just fine with either.
