Innokin Klypse Pod Kit Review / A 16W Draw Activated Pod With A Magnetic Dust Cap
Innokin are at it again; hot off the press and following on from their newly released MVP Pod Kit and Sceptre Tube Pod Kit… comes the Innokin Klypse Pod Kit.
Left: Sceptre Tube, Center: Klypse, Right: MVP
While we love an all singing and dancing kit with all the bells and whistles, Innokin are tapping into the growing market with a range of simple no fuss straight-forward vape kits that suit the transitioning smoker and beginner vaper.
That being said, if bells and whistles are your thing, Innokin have plenty to choose from. We often hear though that these devices can be too complicated for the vaper starting their journey and simply want a device he/she can pick up and vape.
The Klypse kit is just that but is equally at home with the more experienced vaper who just fancies a change of pace. The performance is NOT compromised, it’s just you don’t have to worry about wattage adjustments, vaping modes, control settings etc….simply fill it up and vape.
What you do get with the Klypse though is a little twist with its design, something that lots of folk have remarked on which Innokin have now introduced. It has a top hat cover that prevents dust and debris entering into the mouthpiece when not being used.
Overview
The Innokin Klypse Pod Kit has a fixed power level of 16W, is a draw activated Mouth to Lung (MTL) pod device and incorporates an internal 700mAh re-chargeable battery. Made out of aluminum alloy, it comes in 6 different subtle colors.
E-liquid capacity of the pod is 2ml and is re-fillable via the side filling port. The 0.8 ohm coil is an integral part of the pod meaning it’s not replaceable. When the coil degrades, the pod is disposed of and a new pod fitted.
Airflow is non-adjustable but has 2 small fixed pin holes, one each in the side casing that provides a semi restrictive Mouth To Lung (MTL) style vape.
Charging the Klypse takes approximately an hour and is carried out using the supplied charging cable that connects to the Type-C USB port on the side of the device, specified as 5V/1A.
There are no control buttons and no display panel, the surfaces of the Klypse are smooth and flat. The only user indication is a small concealed white LED that illuminates when the pod is inserted / removed or you draw on the pod. This LED also indicates the remaining battery level and the charging status of the battery.
As always with Innokin they never fail to come up with innovative ideas, the Klypse device is no exception. A fully enclosed top cap that matches the Klypse body snap fits over the duckbill style mouthpiece protecting it from debris while not being used.
If that wasn’t enough, this top cap is magnetic. Once it’s removed when you’re ready to vape, you simply place it on the bottom of the Klypse and it’s held in place with two magnets.
Read on and find out if the Klypse lives up to Innokin’s usual quality and performance standards…

Innokin Klypse Pod Kit Design and Appearance
The Klypse Body
The Innokin Klypse is a small compact fixed wattage (16W) auto draw activated vape pod and is constructed out of aluminum alloy. Its shape is a slim rectangular oval design with two opposing flat angled sides measuring 94mm tall, 29mm wide by 15.2mm deep and weighs in at 45 grams.
One of the flat angled sides is color matched to the Klypse casing and is screen printed with the branding name “Klypse”. The opposing flat angled side is black with the words “INNOKIN” and a small concealed white LED which illuminates when the pod is fitted/removed, when you draw on the pod and when it’s being charged.
The Klypse incorporates an internal 700mAh internal battery and is charged via the Type-C USB port on the side of the Klypse body, specified as 5V/1A. Charging time will take approximately 1 hour to fully charge the internal battery.
Auto draw activation is controlled by the on-board chip set, which also ensure the safety features are maintained, such as:
·Overtime Protection
·Output Over Current Protection
·Low Battery Protection
·Over Discharge Protection
·Over Charge Protection
·Atomizer Short-Circuit Protection
There are 6 colors available in the Klypse Pod Kit range:
·Indigo
·Blush
·Scarlet
·Mint
·Charcoal
·Graphite
The two devices we received for review were Blush and Graphite. Both the color surfaces on the Klypse bodies were a matt finish which was nice to see they didn’t show any marks or fingerprints.
There is no adjustable airflow on the Klypse body or pod but it does have two small fixed pinholes, one on each side of the side casing, which provides the semi-restrictive MTL draw. Placing your finger or thumb over one or both of these holes while drawing will restrict the airflow if you want to tighten the draw.
On the base of the Klypse body are the usual printed CE markings together with its battery capacity; 700mAh and 2.59Wh. Two flush fitting magnets either side of these markings providing the magnetic attachment for the removable dust cap when it’s fitted.
The bottom of the Klypse body is flat and does stand upright on a flat surface.
Now we come to the top of the Klypse. Unlike anything we’ve seen before, the Klypse has a really nifty removable top dust cap. When the dust cap is fitted, it mirrors the Klypse body in coloring and style and looks like a complete oblong casing. This cap is a snap push fit and covers the pod to keep out any dust or debris when the Klypse is not in use. Perfect for when placed in a pocket or handbag.
Removing the dust cap is easy; simply pull the cap away from the Klypse body and the mouthpiece is then visible. Now before you say that’s very well but this dust cup is bound to get lost or misplaced; no no no…
When you’re using the Klypse, flip the dust cap over and it will magnetically attach to the base of the Klypse body by the two flush fitting magnets. They are pretty strong so the dust cap in most cases won’t become detached.
What I really love is the dust cap magnetically locks into place and always seems to sit flush to the base looking like it’s a one piece casing. When fitted, the Klypse will still stand upright. For such a simple concept, this really does work and it works really well.
With the pod removed, the pod recess is very deep (22mm). In the recess are two gold plated spring loaded coil contact pins, two opposed magnets that line up with the pod and a smaller gold plated flat pin which is the auto draw sensor.
The pod can be fitted either way round into this recess and is held securely in place by the two magnets. As the pod is fitted, the small white LED will flash once to indicate the pod has made contact with the two coil pins and is ready to be used.
The Klypse Pod
The Klypse pod is re-fillable with a 2ml e-liquid capacity and has an integrated 0.8 ohm mesh coil. The coil is sealed into the pod and is not replaceable so once the coil degrades the whole pod will need replacing.
Manufactured out of tinted PCTG material, it’s smoked in color but is transparent so you can see your e-liquid through it. The pod has a duck bill type mouthpiece which tapers down to an oval opening with a circular 5mm centre section chimney leading down into the coil. This provides the ideal MTL vape style.
The Klypse pod is a side filling design with the opening concealed behind a flush fitting black silicone rubber plug. To gain access to the fill port, the pod has to be removed from the Klypse body. This plug has an indented arrow on it which identifies which end is to be lifted away to gain access to the filling port.
When the plug is opened the other end of the silicone rubber flap will remain attached to the pod so it won’t get lost. This plug can be rotated out of the way when you are filling. The fill port hole is a pretty decent size (4mm) allowing for most e-liquid tip bottles.
When you first unpack your Innokin Klypse, the pod comes shipped with a sticker across the coil contact pins to stop you from firing the device before you’ve filled it with e-liquid. Do ensure you remove it prior to use.
On the underside of the pod are two gold plated coil contacts, two air intake holes and two small outer contacts that locate against the magnets in the Klypse body. The pod can be fitted either way round and simply slides into the recessed opening of the Klypse body and is secured with the magnetic contacts.
Branding on the pod is only visible when the pod is removed. “INNOKIN” printed on one side and “KLYPSE” printed on the other side. There is also a “MIN” level marked on the pod so do make sure you don’t let your e-liquid level fall below this line. There is no coil resistance printed on the pod but I assume it’s because there is only the 0.8 ohm pod available.
The Klypse pod is quite long in length and does fit approximately 22mm into the Klypse body. To check your e-liquid level while the pod is attached, tilt the Klypse on its side and the e-liquid will be visible in the mouthpiece section.
Once the pod is inserted, the LED will illuminate white once to let you know the pod has made contact with the body and is ready for use. Removing the pod will again illuminate the LED once.
During the time I’ve been using the Klypse pod kit there were NO leaks or any condensation on the base of the pod or around the recessed contact pins. The pod also fits securely and doesn’t rattle or wobble. Considering the pod design means it’s disposed of when the coil degrades, it really is made very well.
Innokin Klypse Pod Kit Functionality
The Innokin Klypse pod kit is about as simple to use as you can get. Yes the pod is re-fillable but that’s it. No on/off, no airflow control, no variable wattage, no fire button, no replaceable coils and no display other than a concealed white LED that illuminates when you draw on the pod and when it’s being charged.
The on-board chip that controls the Innokin Klypse maintains a constant output power throughout the discharge cycle of the battery, providing a responsive auto draw activated vape. This chip also controls the included safety features and provides the visual indication via the concealed LED:
·Charging – LED remains illuminated
·Full charge – LED extinguishes
·Pod inserted – LED illuminates once
·Pod removed – LED illuminates once
·Low battery – LED flashes once after draw
·Battery Cut-Off – LED flashes 3 times
·Overtime protection – LED flashes 2 times
Remaining Battery Charge Status
Innokin specify that while you draw on the pod, the LED will either illuminate or it will flash depending on the remaining charge in the battery:
·Battery >10% – LED illuminates when drawing
·Battery <10% – LED flashes
Observation: During my time using the Innokin Klypse, the white LED illuminates while your vaping and continued to do this right up to the point the battery cut-off. What I did notice was once the battery reached less than 10% of its charge the intensity of the vape reduced and only allowed a short draw, after that the LED flashed once. This continued for a few more draws until the battery cut-off and the LED flashed 3 times.
I have to point out that the two Klypse devices I received are pre-production test models so I will be informing Innokin of my findings and hopefully this will be clarified/resolved in the released models.
Battery Charging Status
When the Klypse is placed on charge, the white LED will Illuminate and extinguish when charging has been completed.
The Klypse does have Pass-Through so you can vape on the pod while it’s being charged.
Overtime Protection
When your draw on the Klypse pod for longer than 10 seconds, the LED will flash white 2 times and the vape will cut off.
Innokin Klypse Pod Performance
As with most MTL vape pods, freebase or nicotine salts with a PG/VG ratio of 50/50 is recommended because of the smaller wicking ports and lower power. Using high VG e-liquid is likely to clog up the wicking ports in the coil leading to dry hits which will destroy the coil.
When first using a new pod, I would recommend filling the pod with your e-liquid and leave it to stand for 10-15 minutes to allow the e-liquid to saturate into the wick before vaping. This will improve the longevity of the pod before it needs replacing.
Having filled the pod with 6mg freebase nic Watermelon and waited for 15 minutes for the wick to fully saturate, my first draw on the pod was pleasantly surprising. The flavor came through straight away with a pretty decent throat hit and the vapor was on par with a pod of this size.
The draw was not tight or restrictive, more of a semi-restrictive MTL vape. Placing my thumb over one of the fixed airflow holes restricted the draw slightly, covering both airflow holes restricted the draw a little bit more.
Auto draw was responsive and worked every time. Even the slightest of draws activated the Klypse pod. I found that once the pod had been re-filled with e-liquid, the flavor profile became a little more prominent.
Switching my e-liquid to 20mg nic salts gave the same good flavor but really did improve the throat hit and nicotine delivery. My preference when using this pod would be to use Nicotine Salts for that instant nicotine hit.
My third variation of e-liquid through the pod was a shortfill Mango Ice that was quite a strong flavor profile mix with double strength Mango. This flavor really did come through the pod and for me gave the most satisfying vape. The increased flavor strength worked really well.
The performance from the pod/coil was very good and the auto draw activation was faultless. The draw was smooth but was a little noisey. A good plus point was the e-liquid in the pod seemed to last ages before requiring re-filling. This pod is definitely NOT thirsty.
At the time of writing this review, I’ve cycled approximately 40ml of e-liquid through the pod and the coil is showing no signs of faltering with no loss of flavor. What I did like was being able to tilt the Klypse on its side and see the level of e-liquid left in the pod.
Innokin Klypse Pod Kit Battery Performance
The Innokin Klypse pod kit is powered by an internal 700mAh battery. Charging time is pretty impressive, taking approximately 60 minutes to fully charge via the on board 1 amp Type-C USB charger/cable.
With a fixed power level of 16W I was expecting the battery to drain fairly quickly. I was pleasantly surprised and was achieving a whole days vaping from a fully charged battery.
My only gripe was the visual LED indication of the remaining battery charge. Once the battery discharged to less than 10%, the draw intensity and draw time reduced until after a few more draws the battery cut-off, indicated by the LED flashing 3 times.
Once the intensity of the vape and draw time reduced I had to recharge the Klypse. An earlier indication without the reduction of vape would of been better. Fortunately it does have pass-thru so you can vape while it’s being charged.
How Do I Fill The Klypse Pod?
The Innokin Klypse pod is a side fill design. You’ll have to remove the pod from the Klypse body in order to fill with e-liquid. Simply hold the Klypse body with one hand, grasp the pod with your other hand and pull the pod away from the Klypse body.
The fill port is located on one side of the pod and is concealed behind a black silicon rubber flap. This flap sits flush with the side of the pod. A small arrow highlights which part of the rubber flap lifts away but for reference, it’s the end located towards the top of the pod. This silicone rubber flap is attached to the pod so there’s no chance of it getting lost.
Because the fill port opening is pretty wide, it’ll accept those larger e-liquid/shortfill bottles.
Pull open the flap and insert your e-liquid drip tip into the opening. Tilt the pod on its side to aid filling and to get the maximum amount of e-liquid into the pod.
Once filled, re-insert the silicon rubber flap making sure the fill port is securely re-seated.
Re-insert the pod into the Klypse body till it’s held in place by the magnetic catches.
Quick Tip: If you are filling the pod for the first time, once filled, leave to stand for approx. 10-15 minutes before you start to vape. This will help saturate the wick fully in e-liquid and help prolong the life of the coil/pod.
When and How Do I Change The Klypse Pod?
Because the Klypse pod has a fixed 0.8 ohm coil and is NOT replaceable, when the coil starts to degrade after a couple of weeks use, the pod will need to be discarded and a new pod fitted.
An indication of the coil degrading will show by either a loss of flavor or a lack of vapor. When this happens discard the pod and fit a new one.
Pull the pod away from the Klypse body, discard and fit a new pod. Unfortunately if you still have e-liquid in the pod, this will have to be discarded as well.
When fitting a new pod, follow the procedure for How Do I Fill The Pod. As you insert the pod into the Klypse body, the LED will illuminate to identify the pod has been fitted.
How Do I Charge The Innokin Klypse?
Using the supplied Type-C USB charging cable, plug the cable into the USB port on the side of the Klypse body. Connect the other end into a suitable power source (typically 5V/1A).
Whilst charging, the small white concealed LED will remain constantly illuminated identifying that the device is on charge. Once fully charged, the white LED will extinguish indicating the charge cycle has completed.
Charging time takes approximately 60 minutes to fully charge the battery using the supplied charging cable and an appropriate charging source. One point worth mentioning is the device while on charge does get slightly warm to the touch
The Klypse pod kit does have a ‘pass-through” function therefore you can vape while it’s being charged.
Always observe safe charging practices i.e. always charge on a non-flammable surface and NEVER leave your device unattended whilst charging.
Innokin Klypse Pod Kit Price
Because of its design, build quality, performance and simplicity, if you’re after a no fuss pod kit and not interested in replaceable coils, the Innokin Klypse pod kit ticks all the boxes.
At the time of writing, the Innokin Klypse pod kit had not been released yet and my review was carried out on pre-production models. Once Innokin release this new model I will update our review with the price.

Innokin Klypse Pod Kit Summary
The Innokin Klypse pod kit is a well built device, looks impressive and feels comfortable and tactile in the hand. Its 700mAh internal battery is a good sized capacity and does last a long time between charges. Flavor and vapor was also very good.
Innokin I feel have produced another winner with this simplistic design and the innovative implementation of the magnetic dust cap, it’s a great concept and not only worked very well, looks great too. Being able to protect debris from entering the mouthpiece while you’re not vaping on it is such a simple idea but very effective.
Because of its simplicity and how easy it is to use, the Klypse pod kit is aimed more as a new user’s vape kit. Saying this, because of the innovative dust cap, this may well entice a lot of existing vapers to purchase one.
The MTL style vape with its auto draw was faultless. Because of the trusted brand name of Innokin, coupled with the known quality of their products, I have no problem in recommending this kit.
Hope you enjoyed this review and found it useful.
