How To Vape Properly

For those new to the vaping scene, it is often easy to find yourself a little disappointed with your first experience – mainly because people tend to forget that a vaporiser is not a cigarette. Used correctly, however, it can deliver the ‘lung hit’ so many smokers crave – it simply takes a little adapting. Knowing how to vape properly is key to enjoying your experience, and something that many people do not consider when they dive into their first vape kit. From knowing the proper way to inhale vape, to finding the best e-liquid to suit your needs, a little research can really help boost your vaping journey.

How To Use A Vape
If you’re a real beginner then first things first, you’ll need to know how to use your vape. We advise you start out simple, easier to use definitely doesn’t mean inferior when it comes to vaping devices. You can get a number of vape kits from our website that provide you with the essential necessities to get your device working and ready to use. The main types of vape device include:

1.Pod Vape
Perfect for those trying hard to quit smoking cigarettes, whether you’re using a refillable pod device or a standard one. All you need to do is pop your chosen e-liquid in, leave it to saturate for 10 minutes, insert the pod into the device and begin to vape! It’s that simple! The Pod vape is a convenient option that can help emulate smoking a cigarette. The pod system makes it easier to switch from flavour to flavour and they use much less e-liquid in a day.

2. All in One Vapes
Another easy-to-use option, the all in one vape offers a hassle free vaping experience. All you need to do to vape this correctly is add your chosen e-liquid and you’re on your way! Begin by priming your coil with a few drops of your favourite e-liquid, place it in the tank, fill it up, give the coil time to saturate and then you’re ready to go.  Just ensure you look out for when your coil performance drops as that will mean your coil is ready to be replaced.  Now you know the basics on how to use your vape, here are our 7 easy steps to follow for you to know how to vape correctly:

  1.Choosing The Right E-liquid
With a choice between propylene glycol (PG) or vegetable glycerine (VG) e-liquids, it can be quite a lengthy process finding the liquid that works best for you. The former delivers a stronger, intense flavour with a more powerful hit, while the latter delivers great plumes of vapour when exhaling. The best way to choose is simply through experimentation; and once you’ve found the right ratio for you, your vaping experience will improve hugely.

   2. The Primer Puff
As the e-cigarette works through the use of a heated coil causing the e-liquid to evaporate, a primer puff acts as a catalyst to kick-start your vaping session. The primer puff is carried out by holding down the button for a few seconds, before taking a 2 or 3-second slow inhalation to ensure the evaporation starts correctly.

3. Do You Have to Inhale a Vape?
Despite what common knowledge leads many to believe e-cigs do not need to be inhaled like a cigarette. Similar to chewing tobacco, nicotine can be absorbed through the soft tissue in the mouth and does not necessarily have to be inhaled. Many ex-smokers do prefer to inhale often due to the habitual addiction, but a vaper can still absorb the same amount of nicotine whether they inhale or not.

4. How to smoke a vape – are short or long drags better?
Short drags are more effective on a normal cigarette, but as e-cigs require a liquid to evaporate, a short drag will not allow enough liquid across the heating element, leaving you with an unsatisfying experience. Those who are willing to take slow, longer drags report a much more enjoyable vaping session – not to mention it avoids the chance of accidentally ingesting excess e-liquid. If you’re learning how to vape properly, the latter is definitely something to avoid!

5. How do I Inhale vape properly?
There are a couple of vaping techniques to choose from depending on what type of hit you’re trying to achieve:

Mouth-to-lung
Perfect for smaller vapes using high nicotine with higher resistance coils. This type of vaping resembles smoking a cigarette much more and provides that similar throat hit you’re all craving. All you need to do is take a slow drawing vape into your mouth, hold it with your mouth closed for a couple of seconds, open your mouth and breath the vape into your lungs. Only exhale once the vapour is in your lungs. If you’re looking to replace smoking cigarettes then this is the ideal way to vape properly.

Direct Lung
For a smoother hit, the direct lung vape can be hit using a larger vape with a lower nicotine level e-liquid. This one is much simpler, all you need to do is quickly draw the vape directly to your lungs and exhale almost straight away. Seasoned vapers often advise those starting out with an e-cig to take 3-7 draws on their vaporiser before holding the vapour in their mouths for several seconds. After this, they can either exhale directly or inhale the vapour into their lungs first. For those looking for that lung-hit, bear in mind that a normal cigarette will deliver the hit in roughly 8 seconds, while an e-cig will take up to 30 seconds for the body to absorb and provide the hit. This is due to the vapour molecules being much larger than smoke molecules and unable to be absorbed as deeply into the lungs.

6. How long do I have to wait to enjoy another vape session?
To ensure a long life for your e-cig, it is advisable to wait a couple of minutes after each session to allow the heating element to cool down. Waiting for a few minutes also helps to prevent a sore throat, irritation or bud burnout – often known as ‘vaper’s tongue’.

7. How to vape correctly – is there a definitive right or wrong way?
Despite our recommendations above, there is actually no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ way to vape, as long as you avoid short drags. People often experiment with new liquids, different voltages or wattages; different lengths of time holding the vapour; or even whether to exhale through their mouths or noses. Everyone has their own preferred approach on how to vape, and whatever works for you is absolutely fine.
