E-CIG TIPS & TRICKS

We have compiled this list of “tips and tricks” in order to make it easier for you to use the devices, gain an understanding of the vaping world and feel confident with their purchases.

EGO Batteries

Keep threads and connections clean to maintain solid connection between battery and atomizer

Regularly charge your EGO battery to extend it's life

Do not use an atomizer less than 1ohm (may cause the wiring to melt and break your battery)

Do not leave in direct sunlight or near sources of heat as this may damage or break your battery

If your EGO flashes with charge its detecting a short, remove the atomizer and check for shorts

Before placing a contact battery on charge wipe over the base to ensure a solid charging connection

Batteries with 5 click on/off system 5 consecutive clicks will be far more reliable than 5 rapid pushes

The EGO 510 USB pass through battery is also compatible with the SmokTech 510 USB charger

The higher you have the voltage set on the Smok Winder the quicker the battery will drain

MAH is the duration your battery will last, higher the number the longer in between charges

If you lose/break your Pass Through battery cable , Don not worry any USB to Mini USB will work

If an atomizer is not making a proper connection using tweezers gently lift the positive pin up

Cartomizers/Tanks

Always prime your cartomizers, XL cartomizer will hold between 20-30 drops on initial prime

Once primed, allow to stand for 15-30 minutes before vaping

Firing a cartomizer that is not primed will result in destroying the cartomizer making it unusable

To check if a cartomizer is DOA, check the resistance of the cartomizer using a mod or multimeter if it reads it is OK.

If you do not have access to a mod or multimeter then priming the cartomizer and firing will ensure that the cartomizer is not DOA

Once a cartomizer is primed its recommended to blow through any excess e-liquid into a tissue.

If placing a cartomizer into a tank, you can prime it and place it straight into a tank but it will still need priming time before use.

You can fill a cartomizer tank by sliding a needle tip bottle to pour juice down the side of the tank, We would recommend using a filler tool as it makes the process much easier.

Using just one flavour in a cartomizer will keep it at its best performance and extend the life of the cartomizer and maintain a true flavour.

Pre punched cartomizers may need adjustment for proper juice regulation which may include punching additional holes into them, this can be done several ways but the safest and most consistent is a cartomizer hole punch available in the cartomizers and tanks section

Tanks made from glass/Pyrex (Glassomizers) will not be susceptible to cracking with very strong e-liquids such as menthol and strong citrus flavours . If you use these e-liquids we strongly recommend a glassomizer tank, These are available with replacement coils or as cartomizer tanks

Atomizers

When first using a dripping atomizer it must be primed dripping around 4 drops of e-liquid, Allowing it to absorb and then dripping a couple more.
Atomizers have a break in period this will usually last around one hour of vaping.
If regularly cleaned dripping atomizers such as the SMOK 306 dripping atomizer can last months
To properly clean an atomizer leave in vodka or a sterile cleaning solution over night, then allow to air dry for a further 24 hours, once done prime the atomizer again and never allow to become dry unless cleaning.
Not all atomizers will accept a 510 Drip Tip please check that the atomizer you are looking at takes the Drip Tip you own
SmokTech tank atomizers and EGO tank atomizers work in the same way as a dripping atomizer but have a tank or cartridge to automatically feed e-liquid to them instead of the user manually dripping the e-liquid into the atomizer

Glassomizers

The tanks in “Glassomizers” are glass please treat them carefully as they will break if dropped, potentially causing injury.
As these are glass you can use any and every type of e-liquid you like without fear of the tank cracking.
When cleaning the tank do not change water temperature rapidly as quick temperature change can cause glass to crack.
Tanks that incorporate glass will usually have O-ring seals top and bottom of the tank to prevent leaking, please ensure that these are there when reassembling.
Do not over tighten during assembly as this can put pressure on the glass as this potentially causes cracking
Bottom coiled tanks will provide a cooler vape and require less power typically 3.4-4.0 volts is all that is required
A shorty cone is designed to hide the ego threads and blend tanks to batteries.

Clearomizers

When using the REDUX clearomizer always ensure you grip the knurled sections to take the tank apart or removing from a battery, using the plastic tank to grip will cause weakening in the clearomizer resulting in a failing device or accidentally removing the plastic body spilling e-liquid
Clearomizers with tank sections that are not made from glass may be susceptible to cracking with certain types of e-liquid in them, typically these e-liquids would be strong menthol/mint and citrus flavours.
When using clearomizers ensure the coil does not become loose when unscrewing the tip to refill with e-liquid
When replacing the coil in a clearomizer ensure you do no over tighten as this can damage the new coil

To wash a tank fully disassemble and rinse thoroughly with warm water then either air dry or use kitchen roll to dab dry, after dry using tissue clean all threads and contacts thoroughly

Bottom coiled tanks will provide a cooler vape and require less power typically 3.4-4.0 volts is all that is required

A shorty cone is designed to hide the ego threads and blend tanks to batteries.

Mechanical Mods

Mechanical Mods are unregulated so always check for shorts before using the atomizer on your mod

Protected batteries are recommended for use with mechanical mods

Regularly clean the contacts on your mod from build up to maintain performance

Mechanical mods do not have reverse polarity protection so will fire with battery in upside down, THIS IS NOT RECCOMENDED

DO NOT over tighten telescopic mods as this could damage your battery and atomizer

Mechanical mods do not have low battery indication, do not allow a battery to fully discharge as this could cause damage to the battery

With a mechanical mod a full battery will hit noticeably harder than an empty one

If when using a mechanical mod you notice your fire button getting hot this indicates a short, stop immediately and check the atomizer

 VV/VW Mods

Variable voltage and wattage devices have inbuilt protection for shorts, low battery and typically reverse polarity, Check product description on the particular device to check all its features
The Panasonic 3400mah batteries work great in a Variable mod usually eliminating the need to carry additional batteries due to the life of the battery
Regularly clean all threads and connections on VV/VW mods to maintain performance
VV/VW mods are compatible with both protected and unprotected batteries
Using good quality batteries will enable your device to reach its specified settings
You can turn off your ZMAX's LED display in order to extend battery life and this can also be beneficial in dark places where the lights will stand out
The kick is a variable wattage device that drops into a mechanical mod to allow the user to tailor the power up or down from the native battery power giving the advantage of an adjustable power mod without having to buy a completely different device

Mod Batteries

When a battery is full it will read 4.2 volts when a battery becomes low (changes depending on battery) but will typically be at 3.2 volts
It is recommended that you use protected batteries in mechanical mods
The Efest 30a batteries will provide more power under load in a mechanical than any other batteries.
All LI-MN & LI-ION batteries should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from sources of heat and in a protective case to avoid contact with metal objects
All LI-MN & LI-ION batteries should be stored with around 3.7 volts in the battery for optimum cell life
Batteries should never be left in charger unoccupied or once charging has completed
Not all batteries will be exactly the same size although sold as 18650, 18500, 18350 there can be variations between batteries typically higher mah batteries will be slightly wider and taller
Using a safe charging bag is recommended and the safest way to charge your batteries
NEVER stack 2 18350 or other batteries in a mechanical mod, this is dangerous and puts the user at serious risk
Always ensure you have locked off the switch on your mechanical mod as there is no cut off time and if accidentally depressed will provide full power until is released or the battery fails which is dangerous

Chargers

Do NOT leave any charger unattended while batteries are on charge
Insure batteries are placed the correct way round
We strongly advise using a safety charging bag when charging batteries.

Rebuildables/Replacement Heads and Coils

Atomizer heads only need to be finger tight as over tightening can cause damage and cause the coil to malfunction or break
Coils are available in different resistances the lower the ohms the quicker and hotter the coil will get resulting in a warmer vaping experience, lower resistance coils will also cause batteries to drain faster and increase e-liquid consumption
Replacement coils are sold as disposables and the life expectancy of the coil is dependant on use and power being used on the coil typically 1-4 weeks as a guide line
Pre-Wicked coils used with the RDA and UDA dripping atomizers come at a set resistance making them easy for beginners to use
When installing Pre-Wicked coils it is important once the coil is seated to evenly space the coils on the wick using a pin, small screw driver or finger to ensure an even vapourisation or e-liquid and great flavour
When using Pre-wicked coils once in the device it is important to check for shorts you can do this with a variable voltage mod or multimeter
Once a pre-wicked coil is installed, properly spaced and checked for shorts you can briefly fire the device to check for consistent glowing of the coils as the silica is heat resistant this will not burn them
